HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
Come build homes with us! The Habitat For Humanity Unity Build is fast approaching and it touches so many lives and we are very blessed to be a part of it. The Unity Build is a partnership with different faith communities throughout Nashville to build both a home and inter-faith relationships. While we are collectively building a house for our neighbor, we are also building relationships with one another!
Our Homeowner & Family
Our homeowner this year, and fellow Unity Build volunteer, is Franco Abiangama and his 4 children. To learn more about their story, click here.
Next Build Date
Our build date this year will be Saturday September 26th. We are kicking things off with Day 1 of the Abiangama's house build. If you are not available on this date but still wish to participate in the Unity Build, contact Andrew for possible alternative dates. There is *potential* need for additional volunteers this year on other build days due to some of our partnering congregations with higher populations of at-risk individuals.
We are in need of 22 volunteers this year (20 builders and 2 dedicated for hospitality). The day will start at 7am and end around 3:30 pm. A light breakfast, full lunch, snacks, and drinks will be provided. Day 1 tasks include: Raising wall panels, Installing exterior blue board, Installing windows, Top plating the house. Youth aged 16 and older are allowed to attend (they should bring an ID in case proof of age is requested). Please contact Andrew Southern to add your name to the list of volunteers or for more information about the build or social distancing measures this year.
To address social distancing concerns, volunteers will be divided into two separate groups that will work independent of each other throughout the day. New PPE (hardhat, gloves, eyewear, facemask) will be provided, or you may bring your own. This year, volunteers will be split into 2 teams that will work separately(10 builders and 1 hospitality worker). The hospitality workers will be on site and solely responsible for food & beverage distribution to their team throughout the build day. This is a great job for those interested in helping, but not able to do heavy lifting! For more information on staying safe, click here.
